365 days are missing at the RS:X World Championship

The Circolo Surf Torbole will host this big event from the 22nd to the 28th September 2019 after 13 years from the first World Champion in 2006 when the RS:X board inherited the 5-circle status from the Mistral One Design the Olympic monotype board up to Athens 2004. In 2006 Alessandra Sensini, the current vice president of CONI, won the World Champion, and then she took part at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 where she won the silver medal.

The 2019 edition will be particularly interesting and felt because it will be organized in the preolympic year; many athletes will have the last official chance to participate at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.

The Circolo Surf Torbole had the honor to open the Olympic Era of RS:X Class in 2006 and now the honor to host again the World Championship as 2020 Olympic selection.

Italy has already qualified thanks to Marta Maggetti and Matteo Camboni who the last August hit the target at the Sailing World Championships in Denmark, valid as first qualification (Maggetti got the seventh place and Camboni the sixth).

The Garda Trentino, one of the best spot for sailing and windsurfing, will became in 2019 the dreamed destination for those who aim to the five circles: many international teams will head to the Circolo Surf Torbole to train and be ready for September when the fate of many will be decided. The club, the members and the staff are indeed enthusiastic to welcome all these champions.

“2019 will be a busy year”- said the president of Circolo Surf Torbole Armando Bronzetti- “not only for the amount of races but also for the importance and weight of each regatta. Hosting the RS:X World Championship in the preolympic year means pride and hard work.  We will offer professionalism and seriousness ashore and afloat, in order to put athletes and coaches, who will have to face this event with a focus mindset while having fun, in the best conditions”.
